Salida is surrounded by a dozen of Colorado's 14'ers, the Arkansas River runs through town and offers world class rafting, kayaking, tubing, paddle boarding and fly fishing. Mt Princeton, Cottonwood, Valley View and Joyful Journey Hot Springs are all located within an hour from Salida, or stay in town and enjoy the largest indoor hot springs pool in North America. Each year during the Spring snow runoff in June, Salida hosts FIBArk "First In Boating on the Arkansas", it's the nations oldest festival celebrating whitewater and is not to be missed. Monarch Ski Resort is a 25 minute drive from town. The mountain boasts 54 trails, 6 lifts and 2 terrain parks. Independently owned and operated, Monarch is one of the most affordable mountains in Colorado. This is the best location in Salida, steps from the Arkansas River and a half block from Riverside Park. Step outside the front entrance and you're surrounded by a myriad of galleries, shops and restaurants.
